Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Senior Vice President/COO Michael Schetzel announced this afternoon at a press conference that the team will hold its annual "Pink In The Rink" game for breast cancer awareness Saturday, October 27 at 7:05 p.m. when Utah hosts Idaho.
For a second consecutive year, the Grizzlies will be wearing pink jerseys and playing on pink E-Center ice as the team raises money for breast cancer awareness. New this year, several pink sticks will be used during the game. The team will unveil the 2007 version of the "Pink in the Rink" jerseys later this month.
A portion of the ticket sales as well as all of the proceeds from the post-game pink jersey auction will be donated to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Following last year's game on October 28, 2006, nearly $15,000 was donated to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation as Utah defeated Las Vegas 3-2 in a shootout.
"This is an event that we feel is extremely important," said Schetzel. "The Huntsman Cancer Institute is one of the premier institutions of its kind in the world. In addition, we will be honoring some very courageous people who have been impacted by breast cancer in their life."
"It is a pleasure to once again partner with the Grizzlies," said Huntsman Cancer Foundation President Janet Bingham PhD. "We cannot give up the fight; great progress is being made thanks in part to organizations like the Grizzlies."
The Grizzlies will donate $15 of $31 from all rink side tickets sold for the game, $10 from all $23 center plaza tickets, $5 from all $15 corner plaza tickets and $3 from all $9 party plaza tickets.
