Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced the team's 2007-08 Promotion Schedule of Game Night Events and Special Giveaways. The Royals' promotional season kicks off on opening night with the refrigerator staple-the Papa John's Pizza Magnetic Schedule-and closes out thirty-six home games later when the Royals celebrate the most important members of our organization-"R" fans-with Fan Appreciation Night presented by Comcast. Among the events between those dates, the Royals and the team's corporate partners will turn the Sovereign Center into a "beach" (Beach Night presented by Deibler Dental; November 7, 2007), a "casino" (Casino Night presented by Coors Light; December 7, 2007), and a "rodeo corral" (Cowboy Night; February 16, 2008).

This season the Royals will honor-and have a gift for-just about everyone in the family with "Ladies Night" presented by Mike's Hard Lemonade (cosmetic case for ladies 21 years of age and older) (February 9, 2008); "Guys Night" presented by Labatt Blue (hockey puck beer bottle opener for guys 21 years of age and older) (February 15, 2008); and "Kid's Day" presented by Once Upon a Child (picture frame for kids 12 years of age and younger) at the Martin Luther King Holiday afternoon matinee game (1:00 pm) (Monday, January 21, 2008). The team will also honor "future stars" with CTCE Junior Royals Night; a "past star" with the fourth induction in team history to the Reading Eagle Wall of Honor (January 12, 2007); and our "brightest star"-Slapshot-with 'Mascot Mania' presented by Boscov's Department Stores (March 1, 2008). The Royals' organization will also celebrate some of the most important members of our community with Military Appreciation Night presented by the U.S. Army on Veterans' Day (November 11, 2007) and Teacher Appreciation Night (January 11, 2007), as well as our home community itself with Pride In Berks Night (January 2, 2008).

The Sovereign Center will also be splashed in a variety of colors this year, starting with one of our favorites-purple-as the Berks Community Federal Credit Union and the Outside In Restaurant & Bar will hand out bright purple t-shirts to everyone in attendance on what we're calling "Purple Friday" on November 23, 2007-what is more commonly called the 'Black Friday' "shopping holiday". Of course, the Royals' home rink-and ice-will take a slightly lighter shade on February 1, 2008, when Boscov's Department Stores brings the power of pink to the rink to support the ongoing effort to find a cure for breast cancer. Consistent with the theme of giving back to the community, the Royals' 2007-08 promotion schedule brings a number of opportunities for everyone to support important charitable organizations and those in need with United Way Night (December 5, 2007), the Teddy Bear toss (December 8, 2007), and the American Cancer Society Night (March 29, 2008).

The Royals' players themselves will take on a slightly different look in three games this season, wearing special jerseys that will either be auctioned or raffled for charity. In addition to the fashionably pink jerseys to be worn during the Pink in the Rink game, the team will "Turn Back The Clock" and get decked out in Los Angeles Kings' gear circa 1988 on December 29, 2007. Keeping with a seven year tradition, the Royals will also wear special sweaters for the Berks County Jazz Fest game on "St. Hat Trick's Day" (March 15, 2008).

The Royals and their ECHL opponents won't be the only teams playing hockey in the Sovereign Center this season, as the ever-popular "show down" between the Reading Police and Fire Departments will answer the bell for 'round three' in the 'Battle of the Badges' on February 17, 2008. The Berks Scholastic Ice Hockey Championships will also be held before the Royals' game in the Sovereign Center on March 30, 2008.

In this seventh season of Royals' hockey, the organization and our corporate partners will give out a number of goodies that are sure to reach collector's item status, e.g. four separate 'pub glasses' presented by All Star Distributing; trading cards presented by Rieck's Printing (March 28, 2008); camouflage hats presented by Medalist Performance Sports Apparel (November 16, 2007); and a fan favorite mini-bobble head on Fan Appreciation night (April 4, 2008).
