South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today that goaltender Davis Parley has re-signed for the 2007-08 season. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Parley, 25, set franchise records last season with 60 appearances and 3,522 minutes played while posting a 31-19-7 record and three shutouts. His 31 wins finished third in the ECHL, while his three shutouts tied for seventh. The 6-foot-2, 182-pound netminder also made his AHL debut in 2006-07, stopping 21 shots for the Hershey Bears in a 6-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phantoms Jan. 24.
"He's been excellent for us," Bednar said. "I'm excited to get him back. He's a good leader for our guys, he comes to work every day, and he gives your team a chance to win every night. He's a huge part of our hockey club."
In 95 career regular season contests for South Carolina, Parley has registered a 45-31-11 mark with four shutouts. He was obtained from the Bakersfield Condors for Joel Irving in November 2005, and won ECHL Goaltender of the Month honors in January 2006. Over his four-year professional career, the Surrey, British Columbia native has posted a 74-68-23 record with five shutouts.
Prior to turning pro, Parley played four years with the WHL's Kamloops Blazers, recording 80 wins, 61 losses and 10 ties. He was originally a fourth round choice of the Florida Panthers (120th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
