Inferno come to terms with Doig

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) Oct. 3, 2007- The Columbia Inferno have agreed to terms with left wing Tyler Doig, head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.

Doig recorded 80 points (28 goals, 52 assists) and 55 penalty minutes while splitting the 2006-07 between the Guelph Storm and Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League. The 6-foot, 180-pound Doig also tallied 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) and eight penalty minutes in 15 playoff games with the Bulls last season.

"Tyler is a swift skater who has proven to be a prolific scorer at the junior level," Mann said. "He is a solid player at both ends of the ice, and we are pleased to add him to our forward corps."

Prior to turning pro, Doig, 21, notched 170 points (70 goals, 100 assists) and 201 penalty minutes in 196 career OHL games with Belleville, Guelph, and the Barrie Colts. The Seaforth, Ont. native also tallied 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 34 career OHL playoff games.
