STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, has announced rookie goaltender Glenn Fisher has been assigned to the Thunder from Springfield.

"Glenn is a goaltender who displayed good athleticism and a hard-working attitude while in Oilers training camp," said Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki. "His winning resume' in college is impressive and we're confident he'll put us in position to win whenever he is in net. We're happy for the opportunity to develop a great prospect like him in Stockton."

Selected in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Oilers, Fisher spent time in 2007 NHL training camp with the Oilers and previously played all four years (2003-07) of his college hockey career at national-power University of Denver (NCAA), helping guide the Pioneers to two straight NCAA national championships in 2004 and 2005.

Fisher, 24, appeared in 75 career games with Denver, tallying a 39-22-6 lifetime record, four shutouts, 2.71 goals-against-average and .900 save percentage. The Edmonton, Alberta native posted career-best numbers in save percentage (.919), goals-against-average (2.32) and shutouts (3), additionally garnering the program's Most Valuable Player honors as a 2006-07 senior.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound netminder had a career-high 14 wins as a 2004-05 sophomore, helping guide the Pioneers to their second straight national championship and seventh in program history. Fisher is re-united on the Thunder roster with recent free-agent signee and 2006 ECHL All-Star Luke Fulghum, who was a teammate at Denver.
