
Grizzlies take down rascals in clash series opener

The Grizzlies scored seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings, then survived a scare to knock off the River City Rascals 9-7 Sunday night in front of 6,377 at GMC Stadium. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies improve to 23-20. River City drops to 23-17.
Kevin Lee (4-2) picked up the win going six innings allowing just two runs on eight hits. He struck out three. Mike Golden recorded the last two outs to earn his league-leading 10th save of the season.
The Rascals trailed 9-2 going into the ninth, before scoring five runs on just two hits, and five walks.
Eric Hoffman, in his first professional game led the way for the Grizzlies. Hoffman had three RBIs. He was 1-3. Greg Stevens was 1-5 with a two run home run. Brad Bauder also had a pair of RBIs he was 3-4.
Dan Krines (2-4) took the loss for the Rascals. He went 5 2/3 innings in the start. He gave up five runs on nine hits. He struck out two.
The Grizzlies and Rascals will meet in the second of the three game series Monday night at GMC Stadium. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
