Crestwood, ILâ The Rockford RiverHawks defeated the Windy City ThunderBolts by a final score of 13-2 on Independence Day.
Windy City jumped out to a two-run lead at the end of two innings thanks to RBI singles by Sam Flamont and Jerome McCoy.
In the top of the third inning the RiverHawks pushed five runs across the plate. Shaff Elkouri drove in the first run of the inning on a single. Rico Santana gave the RiverHawks the lead with a two-run single. Aaron McEachran added another two-run single in the inning for the âHawks.
The RiverHawks put the game out of reach in the fifth inning when they scored six runs in the inning including a three-run double hit by Kiley Vaughn.
Jason Pilkington (4-1) gets the win for the RiverHawks. Chris Reily 2-2) took the loss for Windy City.
The series continues at 7:05 on Monday. The RiverHawks return to Marinelli Field on Wednesday at 7:05 to take on Springfield/Ozark. Wednesday will be the "Dog Days Of Summer" sponsored by Petco and WREX-13. Call (815) 964-BALL for tickets.
