
Grizzlies take down Freedom in Game 1

The Gateway Grizzlies got a complete performance Friday night in a 12-2 defeat of the Florence Freedom at GMC Stadium.
The Grizzlies are now 36-40. Florence is 43-36.
Erik Dessau (4-4) went seven strong innings in the start. He allowed just one run on four hits. He did not walk a hitter and struck out four.
Gary Gilbert and Thomari Story-Harden each had three hits on the night for the Grizzlies. Gilbert hit a two-run home run and added an RBI single. Story-Harden came up with a two-run single with the bases loaded in a five-run seventh. Ben Margalski was 2-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Phil Warren added two RBIs.
The Grizzlies and the Freedom will meet in the second of the three-game series Saturday night at GMC Stadium. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
