
Wild Things Top Riverhawks for 7th straight Win

The Washington Wild Things Presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank behind the 3-for-4 effort by Canon Mac Graduate Chris Sidick defeated the Rockford Riverhawks
8-7 in front 3,627 fans; the 21st straight sellout crowd at Falconi Field this season.
Sidick hit a home run, and stole two bases in leading the Wild Things to their 7th straight victory and their 20th in the last 22 games. He singled in the 3rd inning and stole two bases in the Wild Things three run inning putting them up 5-1 after Rockford had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Sidick then hit a two out home run in the 4th inning to put Washington up 6-1. Rockford scored six unanswered runs (four runs in the 5th inning and 2 runs in the seventh inning) highlighted by Brian Baron's two run home run in the seventh inning.
The Wild Things countered with two runs to take the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh inning. Sidick led off the inning with a bunt single and advanced to third base on Chris Carter's bloop single to centerfield. Sidick then scored to tie the game on Gooby Gerlits' error that allowed Carter to advance the third. Carter then scored the go ahead run on Pat O'Brien's ground out.
Stephen Spragg got the win to improve to 4-0 and Jim Popp gained his Frontier League leading 14th saving pitching a scoreless 9th inning. Dave Downing took the loss for Rockford surrendering two unearned runs in an inning pitched.
The same two teams meet in the second game of the three game series tomorrow at 7:05 PM as Jason Olson (5-4) of Rockford faces Washington's Brendon Davis (7-1).
