Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

Crestwood, IL - Steve Martin singled 5 times and came across home plate after each to push the Chillicothe Paints to victory over the Bolts Friday night at Hawkinson Ford Field. 2nd hitter Jose Rodriguez scored the other pair.

Martin was plated the first time after singling off of Bolts starter Bobby Mack. John Ramistella rolled a ball to the left side of the infield and an error on Matt Ferrara sent Martin to the dish. Windy City evened the score in the bottom half of the frame as Jason Crosland rocketed a double that drove Doug Schutt home. The center fielder Schutt tripled to lead the threat off.

The T-Bolts snared the lead for a brief moment in the 2nd on a Jose Gutierrez ground ball that gave Nate Whitney a score. In the 3rd, the Paints matched the RBI grounder and added one as Juan Downing and Ramistella each provided a fielder's choice for a tally.

Martin scored his 3rd run in the 5th on Ramistella's 2nd driven in. That one came on a single. Jose Rodriguez plated his top-of-the-order acolyte in both the 7th and 8th with hits. The 5 base knocks and 5 runs each were season-highs for the former Evansville Otter.

Bobby Mack veered through 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run and 4 total. He didn't walk a batter Friday evening. Keith Ferguson earned his 1st Frontier League win with 5 innings and a third of work and just 1 earned run allowed.

The Paints have won 9 games in a row by an aggregate score of 62-27. The Bolts try to stop the streak tomorrow in Gregg Pleeter's first ThunderBolt appearance. The pregame show gets moving at 6:45 on WJOB 1230 AM or at www.wjobcalpress.com. The first pitch comes at 7:05.
