Richmond Roosters News Release
Richmond, Indiana - Richmond was defeated 7-4 on Thursday as the RiverHawks completed the series and season sweep of the Roosters. Rockford gave up a three-run lead in fourth but rallied past Richmond in the sixth to get the win. The Roosters have now lost seven straight games and all six against the RiverHawks this season.
The RiverHawks opened the scoring with two runs in the first. Olmo Rosario hit an RBI single to score Jerome McCoy and Nick Johnson added a run-scoring single of his own to give Rockford a 2-0 lead. It became 3-0 in the third when Johnson doubled in Aaron McEachran for his second RBI of the game.
Richmond rallied back to tie things in the fourth. Mike Bidwell hit a double to left-center, which scored Kiley Vaughn and Chris DiBlasi. Nate Gravley followed that with a RBI double that plated Bidwell. Kiley Vaughn put the Roosters on top at 4-3 in the fifth when he scored on a wild pitch but the RiverHawks scored four straight runs in the sixth to take a 7-4 lead. Richmond loaded the bases in the eighth and had two in scoring position in the ninth, but failed to score. Tanner Watson (2-3) got the win for Rockford while Matt Schweitzer (6-7) took the loss. Jason Glosser (13) earned the save for the third straight night and is now tied for the league lead.
The Roosters will begin a three-game home stand against the Kalamazoo Kings on Friday. The first pitch will be thrown at 6:35 p.m. (Indiana time).
