January 21, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Grizzlies (9-27-0-2) begin a six-game home stand tonight when they face the Cleveland Barons (18-20-1-3) in the first of back-to-back games. The Grizzlies have been away from the 'E' Center since December 22nd when they finished a six-game home stand with a 4-2 record after their victory over San Antonio.
The road was not kind to the Grizzlies as they went 0-8 dropping a total of six games to three of the top teams in the AHL (Manchester, Hartford and Rochester). At home the Grizzlies have been better winning five of their last eight games.
The Grizzlies home stand includes two games versus Cleveland, one game versus Chicago next Wednesday, two games versus Manitoba on January 28th and 29th and the final game versus Edmonton on February 1st.
Kiel McLeod has scored goals in each of the last two games and Jarrod Skalde has a goal and an assist in the Grizzlies last contest on Sunday, a 3-2 loss to Rochester.
Cleveland is coming off a 4-3 shootout loss on Wednesday night in Cincinnati. The Barons closed the game strong scoring three third period goals earning the point. Over their last four games, all on the road, Cleveland is 2-1-0-1. Marcel Goc had three helpers in the Barons last game. The two games versus Utah concludes a six-game road trip for the Barons.
Next Game: Tomorrow night the Grizzlies will host the third annual Guns & Hoses Charity Game at 2:00 prior to the Grizzlies and Barons battle at 7:05 PM. A $10.00 ticket is available that gains admission to both games. Call (801) 988-8036 for more information.
