Grizzlies Score In Bunches, Beat Wranglers 6-4

West Valley City, UT - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (15-15-3, 33 Points) were defeated by the Utah Grizzlies (14-14-6, 34 points) 6-4 at the E-Center on Saturday night. Utah's Evan Kotsopoulos, Ryan Kinasewich and Rob Hennigar combined for three goals and six assists. Utah was powered by a three-goal outburst over a 2:07-span late in the first period to build an early lead. The Grizzlies also scored two-goals over 11-seconds in the third period to put away the Wranglers. Las Vegas left wing Shawn Limpright had three assists in the loss. Forwards Tyler Mosineko and Hugo Carpentier both had a goal and an assist as Las Vegas fell to 5-9-2 on the road this season. Utah goalie Mike Mole took the win with 35 saves. Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande suffered the loss, stopping 18 of 20 Grizzlies shots in a relief appearance. Las Vegas will play in Bakersfield on Wednesday night at Rabobank Arena at 7:00 pm (PST).

In the first period, Hugo Carpentier picked off the puck in the Utah zone and broke in alone for a shorthanded goal at 9:29. Carpentier's second goal of the season gave Las Vegas a 1-0 lead. The Grizzlies charged back with three goals in a 2:07-span. Forward James Brannigan scored his first goal of the season at 15:34 to tie the game 1-1. Fifty-seven seconds later, the Grizzlies claimed to a 2-1 lead. Winger Tom May scored his seventh goal of the season at 16:31 to give Utah a 2-1 lead. Right wing Ryan Kinasewich tallied his eighth goal of the season at 17:41 to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead. Wranglers' goalie John DeCaro was pulled after giving up three goals on 15 Utah first-period shots.

In the second period, left wing Mick Lawrence scored his fifth goal of the season to trim the Utah lead to 3-2. Las Vegas forwards Shawn Limpright and Chris Neiszner set up the goal at 6:14 of the second period.

In the third period, Las Vegas scored early at 3:21 to pull even with Utah at 3-3. Right wing Peter Ferraro scored for the second time in as many nights. Limpright and Adam Miller set up Ferraro's fourth goal of the season. Utah converted a power-play goal at 8:56 to take a one-goal lead. Left wing Evan Kotsopoulos scored his eighth goal of the season off a rebound in front of the Wranglers net to give Utah a 4-3 lead. Off the next faceoff, the Grizzlies quickly tallied again with left wing Tim Verbeek's 14th goal of the season at 9:07. Kinasewich and Rob Hennigar set up the goal to give the Grizzlies a 5-3 lead. Las Vegas moved within a goal at 17:13 when Tyler Mosienko scored his eighth goal of the season. Limpright handed out his third assists on the goal. The Wranglers pulled goalie Kevin Lalande for the extra skater late in the period, but Utah's Evan Kotsopoulos scored an empty-net goal with 1:48 left for the 6-4 final.

Las Vegas will play in Bakersfield on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm and in Stockton on Friday night at 7:30 PM. The Wranglers will return home to host Victoria starting Friday, January 23rd at 7:30 PM. The Salmon Kings will stay in town for games on Saturday, January 24th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, January 25th at 2:05 PM. Blue Man Group will perform at the game on Saturday the 24th. Las Vegas will host "Prison Uniform Night" on Friday, January 30th against Bakersfield.
