Grizzlies on Road this Week; Home Thanksgiving Weekend

November 16, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Situation

After taking two of three games last week, the Grizzlies still lead the West Division with an 8-4-1-0 record. Utah's five-game winning streak was snapped Saturday. Utah leads every other West Division team by at least six points.

Rapid City: 3, 4, 5

The Grizzlies take on Rapid City in South Dakota to continue five-straight games against the Rush this week. Utah outshot Rapid City 76-37 in two games Friday and Saturday as the two teams split a pair of games.

Great Crowds

The Grizzlies drew 9,262 fans to Maverik Center Friday and 6,187 to the arena Saturday for Salt Lake Golden Eagles Night with the Angel's Hands Foundation and Pooch on the Pond. Drawing 15,449 fans over the weekend moved Utah to sixth in the 28-team ECHL in attendance averaging; 5,189 fans-per-game. That also leads the West Division.

Shorthanded Barrage Is Back

After leading the ECHL with 17 shorthanded goals last year, the Grizzlies have scored two shorthanded goals in three games and are tied for second in the ECHL with three shorthanded goals.

First Place Despite Constant Movement

The Grizzlies were without five forwards due to injury this weekend after Josh MacDonald left Friday's contest in the third period. Last week, the Grizzlies also saw Alex Gallant and Matt Berry promoted to the AHL as Utah now has five players who have dressed this year recalled.

Faragher Now 8-1

After starting the season 8-0, Ryan Faragher, in his second year under contract with the Anaheim organization, suffered a tough luck loss Saturday stopping 15 of 16 shots against Rapid City. The Grizzlies starting goalie is now 8-1 with a 1.98 goals-against-average and a .936 save percentage.

More Shots/Goals

Utah is fourth in the ECHL averaging 33.23 shots per-game and they have 36 or more shots in three-straight games. The Grizzlies have scored four goals or more in eight of 13 games so far this season.

Utah Penalty-Kill

Utah is 24 for their last 25 on the penalty-kill over the last nine games.

Near The League Lead

Ryan Walters has five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 13 games, which is two points off of the league lead.

The Grizzlies return home over Thanksgiving Weekend starting Friday, November 27. It's Black Friday and the Maverik Center box office will have $5 Black Friday Ticket Specials for the game while supplies last.
