LAST WEEK REWIND:

Saturday Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (7-2-1-1) dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday night. Forward Branden Gracel scored the lone goal for the Cyclones, who tied the game with 40 seconds left in regulation. The Cyclones outshot Kalamazoo, 38-26, on the night, while goaltender Neil Conway looked solid in his Cyclones debut, stopping 25 of the 26 shots he faced. The power play was 0-for-6 on the evening.

Friday Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (7-2-0-1) picked up a 3-1 win over the Quad City Mallards on Friday night. Forward Joe Pendenza recorded a pair of goals, while forward Jack Downing added one for the Cyclones. Pendenza added an assist, and forward Nick Huard extended his point streak to four games with a pair of helpers. Cincinnati outshot Quad City, 28-24, on the night, while the power play converted on both opportunities.

Wednesday Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (6-2-0-1) earned a 3-1 win over the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday night. Forwards Joe Pendenza, Nick Huard, and Eric Robinson scored the goals for the Cyclones, who are now in first place in the Midwest Division. Goaltender Brad Thiessen stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced to collect his fifth win of the season. The Cyclones were outshot, 35-30, on the night, while the power play converted on its only opportunity.

Tuesday Morning Recap: The Cincinnati Cyclones (5-2-0-1) fell to the Wheeling Nailers, 7-5, on Tuesday morning. Forwards Zach Budish, Joe Wilson, Jaynen Rissling and Nick Huard, and defenseman Cody Carlson scored the goals for the Cyclones, who, at one time, led Wheeling, 5-2, late in the third. The Cyclones were outshot, 40-26, while the power play converted on one-of-five opportunities.

News and Notes:

We're Going Streaking!: Forwards Zach Budish, Nick Huard, and Joe Pendenza have been key contributors to the offense in recent games, and have put together some impressive point streaks in the process. Budish has tallied all nine of his points this season over the last seven games, accounting for three goals and six assists in that span. His current seven-game point streak is the second longest in the ECHL this season. With an assist in Saturday's loss, Huard is riding a five-game point streak, accounting for a pair of goals and four assists in that time. Huard is seventh in ECHL rookie scoring with 11 points (3g, 8a). Pendenza had an assist in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Kalamazoo Wings, and had a pair of goals and an assist in Friday's 3-1 win over the Quad City Mallards. He has recorded points in four straight games, and has scored nine of his 10 points on the season (5g, 4a) over the last six games.

Making it look Thieasy: Goaltender Brad Thiessen continues to impress early on, earning his sixth win of the season on Friday's 3-1 win over the Quad City Mallards. The Aldergrove, BC, native is amongst the ECHL's goaltending leaders through his first eight starts of the season, posting a 6-1-0-1 record, and ranking in the top five amongst ECHL goalies in both goals against average (1.73), and save percentage (.943). He has allowed only one goal in six of his eight starts.

That Escalated Quickly: In the Cyclones' 7-5 loss to the Wheeling Nailers on Tuesday, Cincinnati allowed five goals in 4:16; marking the fastest five goals allowed in team history. The previous record was 9:39 back in 2008, also against Wheeling.

Power Supply: For the fourth time in two weeks, Cincinnati's power play converted twice in a game, going 2-for-2 in Friday's 3-1 win over Quad City. The Cyclones also added one in Tuesday's loss to Wheeling, and scored again in Wednesday's win over Ft. Wayne. After finishing last season with the 25th power play in the ECHL, Cincinnati is now third in the League, converting on 24.4% (10-of-41) of man-advantage opportunities.

Playing Stingy: T he Cyclones are currently fourth in the ECHL with 2.00 goals allowed per game. Cincinnati has let in 22 goals this season, and have only allowed two or more goals on four occasions (10/30- KAL- L, 3-1...11/6- ADK- W, 4-2...11/10- WHL- L, 7-5...11/14- KAL- OTL, 2-1).
