South Carolina Stingrays News Release


LAST WEEK'S RESULTS:

November 13: Orlando at South Carolina, 2-1 W (Shootout)

Joe Devin scored the lone goal of the shootout to lead the South Carolina Stingrays to a 2-1 shootout victory last Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Stingrays won their third straight contest and Stingrays goalie Vitek Vanecek allowed two or less goals for his seventh straight appearance. Patrick Gaul scored in regulation for the Stingrays.

November 14: Orlando at South Carolina, 2-1 L (Shootout)

Orlando goaltender Rob Madore stopped 29 shots, including a two-on-none rush in overtime, to lead the Solar Bears to a 2-1 shootout victory over the South Carolina Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum last Saturday night. Madore denied all three South Carolina shootout attempts to help the Solar Bears split a weekend series with the Stingrays. Brendan Ellis had the lone goal for South Carolina.

TIME TO HIT THE ROAD:

After going 5-1-1 on a seven game homestand, the Stingrays will spend nearly a month away from the North Charleston Coliseum. The team opens a 10-game road trip on Friday and will not return to the Lowcountry for a home game until December 12. On the road trip, the Stingrays visit Greenville and Atlanta this weekend, before playing three games in Orlando on November 24, 28 and 30. The club then heads to Norfolk for a contest with the Admirals on December 2, then heads to Wheeling for games with the Nailers on December 4 and 5. The following day, December 6, the Stingrays are in Indy. The Stingrays visit Atlanta to conclude the trip on December 11. The trip sees the Stingrays play games in six different states.

ROAD WATCH PARTIES AT KING STREET GRILLE-NORTHWOODS

King Street Grille-Northwoods has become the Watch Party Destination for Stingrays road games during the 2015-2016 season, including all road games during the Stingrays upcoming trip. VANECEK'S STRONG PLAY CONTINUES

Rookie goaltender Vitek Vanecek appeared in both games for the Stingrays last weekend and continues an impressive streak that has played a large part in South Carolina's recent success. Vanecek has allowed two or less goals in each of his last eight appearances for the Stingrays. Vanecek allowed nine goals over his first two professional starts. Since then, he has allowed just 10 goals in eight games. He now boasts a 1.99 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.

LIMITING CHANCES

South Carolina is only allowing 24.43 shots against per game, good for third best in the ECHL. This past weekend the Stingrays held Orlando, one of the league's top offensive teams, to just three goals and 45 shots in a pair of games. The Solar Bears had entered the weekend averaging four goals per game, but the Stingrays defense limited the Solar Bears to just one goal in regulation each night.

CLOSING OUT WINS

South Carolina is 6-0-1 when scoring the first goal of the game, but when the club holds a lead through 40 minutes of play, they have been unbeatable. The Stingrays are 7-0-0 on the season when they lead after two periods of play.
