A three-point weekend in Manchester: Toledo played a weekend series in Manchester, New Hampshire. Toledo held leads of 3-2 and 4-3 Friday night, but the Monarchs took the game 5-4. Saturday night the Walleye rebounded by setting a season-high in goals with a 6-2 win. The weekend finished with a 10 round shootout that saw Toledo pick up a point in the 4-3 loss.
Offense roars to life: After going through a stretch in which the Walleye scored just five goals over four games Toledo heated up with scoring 13 goals over three games in Manchester. A.J. Jenks led the way with four goals while Alden Hirschfeld scored a goal in three straight contests with Kyle Bonis and Austin Wuthrich each had a pair.
Power play springs to life: Toledo's power play broke out starting Saturday night in Manchester when Alden Hirschfeld scored in the first period. That goal snapped a 0-23 streak with the man advantage that lasted over five games. That goal sparked a big finish to the weekend as the power play went on to score five goals in the seven power play chances over the contests Saturday and Sunday.
Jenks on fire : The weekend was special for A.J. Jenks as he scored at least one goal in all three games. He finished the weekend with four goals and three assists. His power play goal on Sunday tied the game at three and forced overtime. For the season, A.J. has a total of 10 points (5G, 5A) and is second on the Walleye in scoring to Shane Berschbach who has 11 (4G, 7A). Sunday he also reached a career milestone playing in game number 300 of his pro career.
Back at home this week : Toledo will return home for two of the three games this week starting Thursday morning for a School Day Celebration against the Kalamazoo Wings. The Walleye defeated Kalamazoo 5-2 in the first meeting of the season on October 23 in Kalamazoo. Friday night, the Walleye will head into Canada to take on the Brampton Beast. Toledo is 1-1-0 vs. Brampton this season. On Saturday night, the Fort Wayne Komets come to the Huntington Center for the second meeting of the season. Both teams will wear specialty jerseys to celebrate 8-Bit Night. The Komets defeated Toledo 4-1 on November 6.
