Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Situation
The Grizzlies open their second to last home stand of the year Friday by hosting the Stockton Thunder. After three games this weekend, the Grizzlies will complete the year with 11 of their final 14 games on the road.
11 And Counting....
Grizzlies forward James Sixsmith now has the longest active scoring streak in the league by scoring at least a point in eleven-straight games. The scoring streak is also the longest by a Grizzlies player this year and he has amassed eight goals and 12 assists during the stretch. The longest scoring streak since the Grizzlies joined the ECHL was set by Tom May last year when he scored in twelve-straight games.
Hot At Home
The Grizzlies are 6-1 in their last seven home games and have won seven-straight home games against the Thunder going back to April of 2008.
Welcoming Back Stockton
The Grizzlies play games three, four and five this weekend of five-straight home games against Stockton. Utah defeated the Thunder by a combined score of 12-5 February 24 and 25 at the E-Center including 7-1 on the 25th on the hands of three goals and three assists from Lance Galbraith.
Penalty-Kill Still Rising
The Grizzlies have now moved to fifth in the ECHL on the penalty-kill by not allowing a power-play goal in six-straight games and not allowing a five-on-four power-play goal in eight-straight games. James Sixsmith also recorded his second shorthanded goal of the year Thursday in Alaska.
Still In The Top 5
Ryan Kinasewich (3rd-33 goals, 43 assists) and AJ Perry (5th -22 goals, 44 assists) both rank in the top five in the league in scoring.
