
Grizzlies Hit Training Camp with 41 Players

Utah Grizzlies News Release
~The Grizzlies 2004 training camp is being held in Boise, Idaho at the Bank of America Centre and consists of 41 players including six former Grizzlies (Justin Cox, Brett Draney, Warren Peters, David Cornacchia, Jon Sim. and Lance Galbraith). The camp includes two pre-season games versus the Edmonton Road Runners (the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers). The first game will be on Friday, October 8 at 7:05 at the BOA Centre and the sequel will be the following night, Saturday, October 9 at 7:05 at the BOA Centre. Tickets for both pre-season games are currently on sale and cost $10.00 for the lower level and $5.00 for the upper level and can be purchased through the Idaho Steelheads at 208-331-TIXS. Utah's camp includes 11 players that played in the National Hockey League last season including Fredrik Sjostrom and Jeff Taffe (each played 50+ games with the Coyotes).

Jon Sim Returns to the Grizzlies:
~During the summer, the Phoenix Coyotes made quite a splash with the Grizzlies' faithful by signing left wing Jon Sim to an AHL contract. Sim, 27, is one of the all-time top offensive players ever to put on a Grizzlies sweater notching 103 career points (53 goals, 50 assists) in 112 games. The New Glasgow, Nova Scotia native ranks 15th on the Grizzlies all-time scoring list and is fourth in power play goals scored with 24. Last season, Sim split the season with the Los Angeles Kings and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sim's first life with the Grizzlies came to an end when he was traded on February 17, 2003 for Andrew Berenzweig, a deal struck between the Dallas Stars and the Nashville Predators. Sim is the franchise leader with four career hat tricks.
Season Opener Just Over a Week Away:
~The Grizzlies open the regular season on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:35 at the âE' Center against the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Last season the Grizzlies and Ducks built quite a rivalry that should continue on this season. Grizzlies Hit the City of Angels for Showdown with the Monarchs:
~The Grizzlies and the Manchester Monarchs will square off in a regular season match-up that will be played in the NHL venue of the Los Angeles Kings, the Staples Center on Saturday, October 23 at 7:35 PM. The contest is one of several AHL games that will be played at NHL arenas with the unfortunate circumstances of the NHL lockout. Ticket packages are available to make the short trip to the left coast by calling Fantastic Sports at 1-877-UTAH-TRVL.
Face-Off Luncheon Set for October 11:
~The Utah Grizzlies annual Face-Off Luncheon will be held this season on Monday, October 11 at 12:30 PM in the Centennial Room at the âE' Center. The Grizzlies will be introducing the 2004-05 Grizzlies roster and the new head coach of the Grizzlies, Pat Conacher, will address the audience.
