P-Bruins, True Value announce Fire Safety Night
October 4, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins, in conjunction with True Value and The Rhode Island Fire Marshal's office, announced today that they will partner up to host "Fire Safety Night" this season at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence. This special event will be held on Opening Night, Friday, October 15. The Bruins will drop the puck on their 13th AHL season that night, when they host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m.
"We are happy to team up with True Value and The Rhode Island Fire Marshal for this special event," said Bruins Co-President Matt Poore. "True Value has been a loyal corporate partner with us, and to be involved with them on something as important as fire safety reflects our commitment to raising awareness on key issues in the community. We are proud to help educate the public on ways to help prevent tragedies."
Fire Safety Night is just one part of Fire Safety Month, a special awareness program in October sponsored by True Value. The monthly promotion highlights the importance of smoke alarms and home escape routes, while also educating people on fire prevention, carbon monoxide safety and the use of "9-1-1" in emergency situations.
On October 15, Providence Fire Fighters will be at information tables throughout the Dunkin' Donuts Center main lobby and concourse. They will be handing out fire safety brochures, while also running safety videos at their tables. In addition, there will also be a "9-1-1" simulator, and home simulators. A fire truck will be in front of the Dunkin' Donuts Center, as will a carbon monoxide display.
The Bruins begin the pre-season on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Portland Pirates at the Bradford R. Boss Arena at the University of Rhode Island. They also travel to Portland for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Pirates on Friday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information for Wednesday's game, please contact U.R.I. at (401) 788-3250.
The Black and Gold concludes the pre-season schedule with a home-and-home series against the Falcons beginning on Saturday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Olympia Ice Rink in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The teams wrap up the pre-season on Sunday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bridgewater (Massachusetts) Ice Arena. Please contact the Bridgewater Ice Arena at (508) 279-0600 for ticket information.
