Utah Grizzlies News Release

Houston, Texas * The Grizzlies looked to even up their record at 1-1 with a victory in Houston against the Aeros but failed to muster any offense while being outshot by 30 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Aeros in front of 4,238 fans at the Compaq Center.

Utah started the scoring when Steve Ott scored his first AHL goal (on the power play). Jim Montgomery and John Erskine gathered assists on Ott's goal. The Aeros would score on a power play of their own just over two minutes later when Tony Virta cleaned up a rebound off a Curtis Murphy shot. With the score tied at one goal apiece, the Aeros saw Rickard Wallin get free at the side of Grizzlies' netminder Jason Bacashihua and shovel one past the rookie goaltender giving Houston a 2-1 lead after one period.

The only other scoring in the game came on an empty net goal by Murphy with 50 seconds remaining.

The Aeros outshot the Grizz 50-20 for the game.
