Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – Kevin St. Pierre turned aside 35 shots and Captain Paul Willett scored two goals and added an assist as the Bakersfield Condors shut out the Fresno Falcons, 4-0 to christen their 5th Anniversary Season in front of 6,139 fans at Centennial Garden on Saturday.

Jeff Goldie started things off for Bakersfield, who were outshot in the first period 13-6. Goldie's tally came off a centering feed from Jamie Cooke for a 1-0 lead at 16:38. It was the only score of the stanza.

In the second, it was nothing but penalties. The teams were whistled for 12 minor penalties during the middle frame, leading to eight power plays. On the last of those, Willett notched his first of the night. It came with just one minute remaining, as Christian Skoryna intercepted a clearing pass from netminder Terry Friesen and found his linemate for the goal.

During the third, the Condors locked it up. Willett scored his second, also on the power play, as a point shot redirected to him. Christoffer Norgren notched his second assist of the game on the goal. With the clock winding down and an empty net in the Fresno end, Willett gave up his chance for the hat trick and set up Paul Rosebush for his first goal of the year. St. Pierre stopped seven shots in the final period to earn the shutout. The Falcons outshot the Condors 35-22, but went 0-10 on the power play.

In other action, San Diego shut out the Long Beach Ice Dogs 6-0 and the Idaho Steelheads improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-2 win over the Anchorage Aces.

The Condors are back in action at home on Saturday, October 19th with a 7:00pm match against Anchorage. The first 2,000 children 12 and under will receive a Paul Willett Bobblehead Doll, courtesy of KGET-TV 17 and Cambridge Home Mortgage.
