Grizzlies Fall 5-2 in Stockton

Stockton, California - The Stockton Thunder defeated the Utah Grizzlies (36-24-3-5) 5-2 Saturday night in Stockton a night after beating Utah 3-2.

It marks only the second time in the last 44 games that the Grizzlies have lost two-straight games and the first time since December 21 that the Grizzlies have lost by more than a goal. (Excluding two empty-netters)

The Grizzlies gave up a shorthanded goal 8:29 into the first period and then fell behind 2-0 12:55 into the first period to trail 2-0 at the first intermission despite drawing three of four power-plays.

Stockton made it 3-0 early in the second period before Utah started a comeback on special teams.

The Grizzlies made it 3-1 with 44 seconds left to go in the second period on Charles Sarault's third goal of the season on assists from David Vallorani and Danick Paquette. Vinny Scarsella kept the play going by winning a battle along the wall as Paquette laid down a hit.

1:00 into the third period, the Grizzlies made it 3-2 as Mathieu Aubin turned in and buried a five-on-three power-play goal.

Stockton though regrouped and made it 4-2 when a shot was knocked in less than two minutes later and then added a power-play goal to make it 5-2.

Aaron Dell took the loss in goal for Utah falling to 17-7-2-2.
