ESTERO, FL -: This evening the Everblades and Stingrays will meet for the ninth and final time this season. The season series is tied at four games apiece and will be decided today.
Florida picked up an impressive 4-0 victory over the Stingrays last night. Trevor Cann earned the win, stopping all 23 shots faced. Defenseman Rob Kwiet finished the game with three assists and a +3 rating.
The Everblades remain in ninth place of the Eastern Conference, and continue to push for one of the top eight spots in the playoff race. Florida trails eighth place Fort Wayne (78 pts) by just two points in the conference standings. Fort Wayne plays host to Toledo this evening. The Stingrays have their eye on a South Division title, and are even in points with first place Orlando who holds the tiebreaker.
Tonight's Playoff Scenarios: Five of the eight playoff spots in the Eastern Conference have already been clinched as Reading, Kalamazoo, Orlando, South Carolina, and Cincinnati are already in. Sixth place Greenville (83 pts) can clinch a playoff spot if the Everblades lose today. The seventh place Wheeling Nailers (82 pts) can clinch a berth in the playoffs if the Everblades lose in regulation today.
Key Players: Forward Philip-Michael Devos enters today's game riding a seven-game point scoring streak. Devos has recorded 11 points (2g, 9a) during this current streak which began back on March 20... Wayne Simpson leads the Rays in scoring against the Everblades this season with 12 points (5g, 7a).
