Logan, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies held a shutout until early in the third period and led the whole way in a 4-2 preseason win over Idaho Saturday night at Eccles Ice Center in Logan. Utah opens the regular season Friday and Saturday in Alaska.
"The guys competed hard again, it's good to get a win and get some confidence going into next week," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley.
Brett Parnham got the Utah scoring started 9:31 into the first period as he went hard to the net and gave the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. Parnham assisted on a Utah power-play goal knocked home by six-foot-eight Riley Emmerson to give Utah a 2-0 lead with less than two minutes left in the second period.
Utah made it 3-0 36 seconds into the third period as newcomer Brad Snetsinger fired a rope home from the left circle.
The Steelheads and Grizzlies traded goals the rest of the way with Hugo Carpentier completing the Utah scoring. For the second-straight night Michael Gergen added one goal and one assist for the Grizzlies.
Utah goaltender J.P. Lamoureux stopped all 21 shots that he saw and Marc Rinfred took over halfway through for the second-straight evening and stopped 10 of 12 shots.
