Stingrays Receive Gustafsson; Announce Schedule Change
October 9, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that forward Anton Gustafsson has been assigned to the team by the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The Stingrays also announced a change to the 2010-11 regular season schedule.
Gustafsson, 21, joins the Stingrays after spending last season with Boras HC of HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second tier professional hockey league. The Karlskoga, Sweden native netted six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 34 games. After the season, Gustafsson, a first round draft pick (21 overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, made his North American debut with the Bears recording two assists in a 3-2 win over the Norfolk Admirals on April 4, 2010.
The schedule change, including those to the opponent, was made due to a scheduling conflict with the North Charleston Coliseum.
The following home game was changed:
Friday, March 11 against the Cincinnati Cyclones will now be Wednesday, March 9 at 7:05 p.m.
With the change, Military Appreciation Night with Force Protection is pushed back to Sunday, March 13 against the Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. The Stingrays will be wearing special camouflage jerseys and will auction them off after the contest with proceeds going towards various military charities.
