Utah Grizzlies News Release
Stockton, California - The Utah Grizzlies came from behind with three goals in the third period to beat Stockton 4-2 Friday night at Stockton Arena to open a seven-game road trip.
Utah goaltender Andrew Engelage returned from injury and stopped 31 of 33 Stockton shots as he improved to 8-4-1-0 on the year.
Along with Engelage, Utah also welcomed back Nick Tuzzolino (AHL, two assists), Ian Schultz (ECHL suspension, two goals), James Martin (injury), and Tommy Maxwell (injury, five shots) back to the lineup game.
The Grizzlies trailed 1-0 after one period and 2-1 after two periods, but in both instances received power-play goals from Ian Schultz to tie the game. Schultz tipped home a Nick Tuzzolino blast 6:10 into the second period and hammered in a loose puck on a second attempt to tie the game at 2 6:20 into the third period.
Utah made it 3-2 1:34 after the tying goal as Kory Falite picked up a turnover and Berkley Scott fed T.J. Battani in the slot for his third goal in five games and that proved to be the game-winner.
After killing four-straight minutes shorthanded in the final eight minutes of the game, Mitch Wahl buried an empty-netter for his 12th goal of the year with 57 seconds left. The Grizzlies started their strong special teams game by killing 1:52 down five-on-three in the first period.
Utah continues their season-long seven-game road trip Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. from Stockton.
The Grizzlies are back home Friday, February 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 10 at 4 p.m. to host Idaho.
