Grizzlies Claw Past Dodgers, 12-8

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies hit five home runs, including back-to-back-to-back homers in the fourth inning, powering past the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 12-8, Sunday evening at Chukchansi Park.

Kyle Tucker started the home run barrage in the first inning with a solo shot to center field, giving Fresno a 1-0 lead. It was also the fourth time in the first three games of the series the Grizzlies went deep in the first inning.

Still leading by one in the third inning, the Grizzlies hit back-to-back-to-back home runs with two outs. A.J. Reed started the run with a two-run homer to the concourse in right field. J.D. Davis followed with a homer off the batter's eye, and Derek Fisher capped it with a solo homer to right field.

It was the first time the Grizzlies hit three straight home runs since 2009.

Fresno (38-25) kept rolling in the fourth with four straight hits with one out, leading to three more runs and an 8-0 lead.

The Dodgers (36-23) got on the board in the fifth inning with RBI singles by Andrew Toles and Alex Verdugo.

In the bottom of the sixth, Reed struck for his fourth homer of the series - a three-run blast also to the concourse in right field. The slugging first baseman finished Sunday with six RBI and now has 10 RBI over three games against OKC.

Trailing by nine, the Dodgers battled back, rallying for five runs in the seventh inning. Edwin Ríos smacked a grand slam to right-center field to pull OKC within 11-6. Three straight hits followed, including a RBI double by Angelo Mora, cutting the deficit to four.

The Grizzlies got one back in the bottom of the eighth when Garrett Stubbs scored on a wild pitch.

Rios stepped up to the plate in the ninth inning and cranked his second homer of the game off the batter's eye. He finished the day 4-for-5 with five RBI.

It was a tough day for the OKC pitching staff, allowing season highs with 12 runs, 17 hits, five home runs and nine extra-base hits. Starting pitcher Guillermo Moscoso (2-4) took the bulk of the damage, allowing 12 runs and eight hits over five innings. He had one walk and two strikeouts in the loss.

Fresno starting pitcher Rogelio Armenteros allowed two runs over six innings to claim the win. Armenteros (4-0) limited the Dodgers to five hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.

The Dodgers are now 3-3 through the first six games of their West Coast road trip and will finish it starting at 9:05 p.m. Central time Monday against the Grizzlies.
