Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox fifth homestand beginning Wednesday, June 13, is packed with seven days of family-fun and affordable entertainment as the team hosts the Las Vegas 51s -Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets - and Salt Lake Bees - Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels - at Security Service Field.
To kick off the homestand, on Wednesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 14, the Sky Sox will offer two weekday promotions along with appreciation for our Military. On Wednesday, it is NOVA Home Loans' Community Ticket Day, where fans can stop by any Pikes Peak Library District location to get FREE vouchers for the night's game. Fans may also bring their furry friends as it is another Bark in the Park at Security Service Field.
On Thursday, the Sky Sox will host Military Appreciation Night presented by Phil Long to honor the men and women in our armed forces while the team pays tribute by wearing special patriotic American flag jerseys that will be auctioned off on the final Military Appreciation Night of the season which is August 23rd. Complimentary ticket vouchers for Military are available at all local installations. It is also another $3 Thirsty Thursday presented by Coors which features $3 craft beers, $3 parking, and $3 upper-reserve tickets.
To kick off the weekend, on Friday, June 15, the Sky Sox will flashback to the 1980's as the team will be wearing 1980-replica and Cleveland Indians era "Cheers to 45 More Years" jerseys, which will be auctioned at the end of June (bid at SkySoxJerseys.com - June auction proceeds benefit Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank). The Sky Sox encourage all fans in attendance to support the 80's theme as the stadium playlist throughout the night will feature music from that decade. The night will also be used to raise awareness for mental health with every home run triggering a donation to the Home Runs for Mental Health partners AspenPoint, Peak View Behavioral Health, and Cedar Springs Hospital. Friday will be capped off with post-game fireworks presented by the Home Runs for Mental Health partners.
On Saturday, June 16, the Sky Sox will host their ever-popular theme night during each season - STAR WARS Night - presented by DaVita Medical Group. On this night, Security Service Field will be taken over by Storm Troopers and other movie characters throughout the game for fans to meet, interact with, and take photos with. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a free light saber. Additionally, there will be a STAR WARS-themed fireworks show following Saturday night's game.
On Sunday, June 17, the Sky Sox will celebrate all Father's in attendance with a Father's Day Catch on the field, which will begin promptly when gates open at 11:30 a.m. and close at 12:15 p.m. In addition, special guest Dwier Brown, the actor best known for playing Kevin Costner's father in the film "Field of Dreams", will partake in catch on the field and will also be available in the concourse for signing of his book "If You Build It...: A Book about Fathers, Fate and Field of Dreams".
The afternoon will also feature a Kids Glove giveaway presented by The Navigators and will be given to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under through the gates. The every-Sunday 50-cent hot dogs presented by Safeway will also be available throughout the event. Following the game, the YMCA kids club members along with their dads will have the opportunity to run the bases.
The Sky Sox will conclude the seven-game homestand after a pair of night games on Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19. On Monday, the team will host the second NOVA Home Loans' Community Ticket Day of the homestand, where fans can stop by any Pikes Peak Library District location to get FREE vouchers for the night's game.
