Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma Rainiers right-handed pitcher Casey Lawrence has been selected as the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for June 4-10, the league announced this morning.
Lawrence made two starts for Tacoma during the past week, including a complete-game, three-hit shutout performance against the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday, June 5. Across his two starts, Lawrence allowed just one earned run on eight hits across a league-leading 15.0 innings of work. He held opposing hitters to a .154 batting average and recorded 13 strikeouts while issuing just one walk.
His complete-game shutout spun on June 5 was completed in under 100 total pitches, marking the second time he's accomplished the feat with Tacoma in the last 12 months. Previously, Lawrence blanked the Albuquerque Isotopes on just 95 pitches on July 3, 2017.
In nine appearances (seven starts) with the Rainiers this season, Lawrence has gone 4-2 with one save and a 2.62 ERA (13ERx44.2IP). He has limited opposing batters to a .236 (41x174) average while striking out 43 with just four walks. The 30-year-old Lawrence has also logged four relief outings with Seattle this year.
Lawrence is the Rainiers first Pitcher of the Week honoree since right-hander Ryan Weber earned the award for his performances May 8-14, 2017.
The Rainiers return to Cheney Stadium to kick off a seven-game homestand on Wednesday, June 13 at 7:05 p.m. PT. Tickets for the entire homestand are available to purchase over the phone at 1-800-745-3000 or online at TacomaRainiers.com.
