Grimson and Fleury Headline Pats' Sportsman's Dinner

Regina, Saskatchewan - The 6th Annual Regina Pats Sportsman's Dinner will be held Thursday, February 7th at the Queensbury Centre , at IPSCO Place. Pete Loubardias will MC the nights events and will be joined by guest speakers Stu Grimson and Theo Fleury, along with comedian Johnny "Bag Pipes" Johnson for entertainment.

Stu Grimson the native of Vancouver, British Columbia, played his junior hockey with your Regina Pats, where he played for three seasons. During his time in Regina, Grimson, otherwise known as the "Grim Reaper", played in 182 career games with the Pats, scoring 32 goals and added 41 assists, as well, as racking up 484 penalty minutes. The 6'5" 230 pound went on to play 15 seasons in the NHL suiting up for 8 different teams.

He was first drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 10th round, 186th overall in the 1983 NHL entry draft. He did not sign with the Red Wings and instead re-entered the draft where he was selected by the Calgary Flames. The Flames selected him in the 7th round, 143rd overall in 1985. After two seasons in the CIAU with the University of Manitoba, Grimson turned pro with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the IHL, where he played for three seasons. Then in 1990, Grimson suited up with the Chicago Blackhawks and never looked back. During his 15 seasons, Grimson played in 729 career, games, racking up a total of 2113 penalty minutes.

Theoren Fleury the native of Russell, Manitoba, played his junior hockey for the Pats longtime rival the Moose Jaw Warriors. During his career in Moose Jaw, Fleury put up spectacular numbers scoring 201 goals and added 271 assists for 472 career points in 274 games. Fleury, currently holds five team records for the Moose Jaw Warriors including, most assists in a season (92), most points in a season (160), most goals; career (201), most assists: career (271) and most points; career: (472). Theo, who stood in at 5'6" 180Ibs, went on to be drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 8th round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft, 166th overall.

Fleury went on to play 15 seasons in the NHL where he won a Stanley Cup in 1989 with the Calgary Flames and an Olympic Gold Medal in 2002. He played in 1084 career NHL games scoring 455 times, while adding 633 assists for 1088 career points. The feisty winger was always known around the NHL as a pest, but played the role perfectly as he played for four different teams throughout his career.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Sportnet's Pete Loubardias. Loubardias is a former voice of the Pats, as he covered the team for four seasons. The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has been a broadcaster for 23 years and identifies the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals and 2001 Masters as career highlights.

Providing the entertainment for the evening will be standup comedian Johnny "Bag Pipes" Johnson. Johnson is mixture of great comedy with a twist of Rock n Roll bagpipes! More than just plaid, Johnny "Bagpipes" Johnston delivers his hilarious comedy performance with a Scottish twist that bowls audiences over. He can play the traditional to the not so traditional, From Scotland the Brave to AC/DC.
