Chiefs Acquire Glass From Medicine Hat
January 10, 2008 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs have acquired 19-year-old defenseman Trevor Glass from the Medicine Hat Tigers for a pair of draft selections, a third round pick in 2008 and a second round choice in 2010. Glass is in his fourth season in the WHL and has 163 career regular season games under his belt and another 42 in the post season, including four in last year's Memorial Cup. Glass helped the Tigers win the WHL Championship with a team leading +13 in the playoffs.
"Trevor has played for a very successful organization, won a WHL Championship and played in a Memorial Cup tournament. The experience he brings will be invaluable for our team as we move forward this season," Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said.
The 6'0", 190 pound Cochrane, Alberta native was a former first round selection in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft (10th overall). In 35 games this season, Glass has five goals, 11 points, is +5 and has recorded 27 penalty minutes.
"As a coach, I'm excited to be able to add a player of Trevor's ability at this time of year. He will compliment our young defensemen and add to our depth at that position," Head Coach Bill Peters said.
"I look forward to working with Trevor, implementing him into our line-up and continuing to improve our hockey club," Peters finished.
The move comes on the WHL's deadline for clubs to make trades and gives Spokane 23 players on its roster; two goaltenders, eight defenseman and 13 forwards.
Glass will not arrive in time for Spokane's game on Friday night at Portland but is expected to be in the line-up on Saturday when the Chiefs host the Tri-City Americans in the Spokane Arena.
