Giants Make Roster Moves

January 10, 2008 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release

The Vancouver Giants have made two transactions on the Western Hockey League's trade deadline day.

The Giants have dealt 17 year-old forwrad Phil Gervais to the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft. In addition the Giants have re-assigned 18 year-old defenceman Justin Palazzo to a team to be determined in the BCHL. Both Gervais and Palazzo had been acquired by the Giants earlier this season.

"At this point in the year, we feel our new acquistions and some of our younger rookies have earned the opportunity to get more ice time," says Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. "Unfortunately for Phil and Justin, we were carrying too many bodies at this time. We wish both players the best of luck in their hockey future."

The Giants now have 23 players on their active roster (2 goalies, 7 defencemen, and 14 forwards). The team opens up their East Division road trip Friday January 11 against the Regina Pats. Game time is 5:00pm PST.
