Gregory Swats Stingers as Rox Win 1-0

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox came out on top of a pitcher's dual Tuesday night as they defeated the Willmar Stingers 1-0.
Reese Gregory (St. Cloud State University) started on the mound and produced another great outing for St. Cloud. Gregory would pitch eight innings, striking out seven batters and scattering four hits.
Gregory, who was named to the All-Star game yesterday, improved to 5-2 on the season with 50 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.50.
The only run of the game would be scored in the sixth inning by Brett Pope (Western Carolina University). Pope would reach base by way of a walk then was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Joe Tietjen (UNC Asheville).
Pope would then advance to third base by a wild pitch and then would score as Austin Athmann (University of Minnesota) reached base when he struck out and the throw to first base by the catcher soared into right field.
Brian Glowicki (University of Minnesota) would come into the ninth inning where he struck out two batters and picked up the save. Glowicki picked up his fifth save of the season and now has 23 strikeouts with an ERA of 1.17.
The Rox are now 11-3 in the second half and 30-18 overall. St. Cloud leads the second half North Division standings by two games and only trail the Stingers by one game in the overall standings.
The Rox will finish the two-game series versus Willmar tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at the Rock Pile. Fans will be let into the stadium at 6:05 p.m. Tomorrow night will be a Rox Baseball Cap Giveaway presented by PreferredOne. First 350 fans.
