Offense goes cold; Anchors swept by Bucks

Waterloo, Iowa - The Alexandria Blue Anchors fell to the Waterloo Bucks Tuesday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium 5-0. The Anchors now have a 7-7 record in the second half and 19-30 on the season.

Waterloo got to Anchors' starter Tyler Hapser early in the first. Tyler Selesky reached on an error and went to third on a single by Taylor Boyd. With runners on the corners, the Bucks pulled off a double steal bringing home Selesky for the games first run.

The Bucks' lead grew in the second as Alex Boxwell walked to start the inning. He stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Zack Soria collected an RBI single to score Boxwell and put the Bucks ahead 2-0.

Kody Knaus came in to pitch the bottom of the sixth for the Blue Anchors. Zack McKinstry and Taylor Lane walked to start the inning and both moved into scoring position on an error. Jonah Bride singled in McKinstry. Boswell came to the plate with both the runners in scoring position and he doubled home Lane and Boxwell increasing Waterloo's lead to 5-0.

Hasper (0-1) pitched five innings and he allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Knaus finished the game throwing three innings surrendering three runs on four hits and four walk while punching out one batter.

Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Tyler Hasper (SP) - Despite taking the loss, Hasper had the best day of any Blue Anchor player. In his first start, he struck out a season-high five batters.

Notes: The Blue Anchors have an off day on Wednesday and they will travel to Eau Claire to start a two-game series with the Express.
