
Greenville`s Kirton Named InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Greenville right wing Scott Kirton is the
InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for November 24-30.
Born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Kirton scored five goals and had five
assists in three games as the Grrrowl went 2-1-0 to improve to 4-11-2.
After scoring five points (1g-4a) in the first 12 games, the 6-4 and
215-pound Kirton doubled his point production with two goals, including the
game winner, and three assists in a 6-3 win at Roanoke on Thursday. After
scoring a goal on Friday, Kirton scored two more goals and added two
assists in an 8-5 win against Charlotte on Saturday.
Selected in the seventh round (154th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in
the 1991 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Kirton, who has a four-game
scoring streak (5g-6a) and a three-game goal streak (5g), has moved into a
tie for the team lead with nine assists and one game-winning goal while
ranking second on the team with six goals and 15 points in 15 games.
Kirton returns to the ECHL following two seasons abroad with Bracknell in
2002-03 and Dundee in 2001-02. He began his professional career in 1995-96
with Charlotte of the ECHL scoring 36 points (17g-19a) in 56 regular season
games and 10 points (4g-6a) in 16 playoff games while helping the Checkers
capture the Riley Cup Championship. In seven seasons in the ECHL, Kirton,
who played for Greenville in 1999-2000 and 2000-01, has scored 328 points
(123g-205a) in 360 regular season games and 24 points (7g-17a) in 42
playoff games.
