Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBOROâThe Greensboro Generals announced today that starting right-winger Sam Ftorek has been recalled to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL).
The 6-2, 190 lb. Ftorek ranks second on the Generals squad after 18 games, where he scored 11 goals, as well as registering 10 assists and 21 points. He has registered four game-winning goals, tying him for second, and 79 shots, leaving him fifth amongst the ECHL leaders.
He will be joining Manchester, who ranks second in the AHL's Atlantic Division behind only Hartford, is 11-9-1-2 (25 points). Ftorek will be a bonus to the Monarchs lineup, where they have only Scott Barney netting double figures in goals (12).
"Sammy had a good training camp when he was in Bridgeport. He was impressive and gained some confidence from that point forward. He came back down to the ECHL and performed very well, improving on some of the things that he needed to improve on and certainly is deserving of the chance to play in the AHL. He is up in Manchester at this present time, how long for we don't know, the team certainly wishes him luck. The great news is that we still have him in the wings for some future date," Head Coach/General Manager Rick Adduono said of departure of Ftorek.
Greensboro now takes to the road for games at Dayton (11/05) and Cincinnati (11/06), returning to the Greensboro Coliseum on Thursday, December 11th, when they face the Gwinnett Gladiators for the second time this season. December 11th marks another R.H. Berringer sponsored Thirsty Thursday, where fans will have the opportunity to purchase draft beer for $1.
