Greensboro pitchers Tyler Kolek, Sam Alvis and Josh Hodges limited Lexington to five singles as the Grasshoppers took a 4-1 win to gain a split of a four-game series at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Greensboro scored a run in the top of the first inning on a one-out single by Rodrigo Vigil, a ground out by Arturo Rodriguez and a single by Austen Smith.

They added two runs in the second. Justin Twine led off with a single and moved to second on a bunt single by John Norwood. Ryan Aper bunted for a single, and when the throw to first base got past second baseman Corey Toups for an error, Twine scored and Norwood went to third.

Norwood held third as Zach Sullivan's sacrifice bunt allowed Aper to reach second. Rony Cabrera's ground out scored Norwood, and the Grasshoppers led 3-0.

The Legends got on the board in the bottom of the second on a walk to Samir Duenez, a passed ball and a single by Chad Johnson.

Greensboro scored its final run in the fifth when Sullivan doubled and came around to score on two ground outs.

Kolek (4-2), a first round pick of the Miami Marlins and the second overall pick in the June 2014 draft, got the win. He worked five innings, allowed three hits and one unearned run. He walked three batters and struck out four. Alvis allowed two hits in two innings, and Hodges picked up his ninth save with two scoreless innings.

Legends starter Zach Lovvorn (4-6), who worked the first seven innings, took the loss. Kyle Zimmer, the Kansas City Royals first pick in the 2012 draft who is coming back after shoulder surgery, pitched the eighth and ninth for Lexington. He retired all six batters he faced and struck out the side in the ninth inning.

The Legends will open a three-game series in Augusta Tuesday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
