CHARLESTON, SC - Augusta's Ehire Adrianza's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth plated the game-winning run as the GreenJackets nipped the RiverDogs, 3-2, in South Atlantic League action Friday night in front of 2,519 fans at Augusta's Lake Olmstead Stadium.

Tied in the bottom of the ninth, Augusta's Andy D'Alessio lined a leadoff single to right and moved to second on Johnny Monell's infield single. Following a wild pitch that advanced the runners into scoring position, Adrianza knocked home D'Alessio with a sacrifice fly that handed the GreenJackets the 3-2 triumph.

With the victory, the GreenJackets raise their second half record to 24-17 (59-51 overall) while the RiverDogs fall to 16-25 (55-56 overall).

Augusta snatched an early 1-0 advantage in the first when Juan Perez walked and dashed to third on Charleston starter Brett Smith's throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Francisco Peguero lifted a sacrifice fly to center that plated Perez for the game's first run.

The RiverDogs knotted the game at 1-1 in the second when Addison Maruszak lined a two-out single to left and moved to second when Garrison Lassiter was hit by a pitch. Mitch Abeita smacked a RBI single to left that knocked home Maruszak.

Charleston captured a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Ray Kruml reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on a fielder's choice. Corban Joseph laced a RBI single to left that scored Kruml.

The GreenJackets forced a 2-2 tie in the home half of the fifth when James Simmons reached on a fielding error by Maruszak and advanced to second on a groundout. A wild pitch allowed Simmons to advance to third before scoring on Perez's sacrifice fly to center.

Augusta reliever Edwin Quirate (4-1) earned the victory after he silenced Charleston over the final 2.2 hitless frames with one strikeout.

Charleston reliever Chuck Nolte (2-2) suffered the defeat after he threw 3.1 stanzas and allowed one earned run on three hits and two strikeouts.

Smith earned a no-decision in his RiverDogs debut after he tossed five innings and was charged with two unearned runs on one hit and four walks while striking out two.

Augusta starter Mike Loree also earned a no-decision after he allowed two earned runs on 10 hits and three strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

The RiverDogs smacked 10 hits led by the trio of Maruszak, Abeita and Tommy Baldridge, who each collected a pair while a quartet of GreenJackets bats accounted for Augusta's four hits.

In the series finale set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m., Charleston hands the ball to right-hander Cory Arbiso (4-7, 3.42 ERA) while Augusta counters with southpaw Aaron King (5-5, 3.56 ERA).
