Rome Shuts Out Savannah on Two Hits

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 2-0 Friday night in front of 3,048 fans at State Mutual Stadium in a near no hitter by Rome pitchers.

Rome wasted no time scoring one run in the first inning. Shayne Moody led off with a walk and singles by Omar Infante and Adam Milligan plated Moody giving Rome a 1-0 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth the Braves would add to their lead. Luis Sumoza started things off with a walk and a double to right field by Joel Campusano scored Sumoza from first and pushed the lead to 2-0. Rome starter Randall Delgado was outstanding holding Savannah to no runs and no hits while striking out nine. The Rome bullpen surrendered the only two hits of the game but shutout the Sand Gnats the rest of the way.

Delgado (4-8) gets the win for Rome and Robert Carson (8-8) takes the loss for Savannah with Rome's Cody Railsback (1) earning the save.
