Great Falls Takes Down Orem 9-3

OREM - The Orem Owlz celebrated 'Retro Night' tonight but couldn't quite get their bats working as the Great Falls Voyagers came away with the 9-3 win. Starting pitcher Jared Ruxer started fantastic striking out his first two batters, but then fell into some trouble in the second. He picked up the loss tonight falling to 0-2 on the season. Brandon Magallones led the way for the Voyagers going 5 strong innings, giving up three hits and no runs.
Dante Flores continued his hot streak for Great Falls hitting his fourth double of the series and added a solo HR in the top of the 5th inning. Orem tried to put on their rally caps late in the game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th, off RBI's from both Eason Spivey and Alex Abbott.
After picking up 15 hits in the first game of the series, the Owlz have combined for 13 in their last two. Cody Pope did well in relief for Orem tonight going two innings, giving up no runs.
The loss brings Orem to 5-4 in the second half of the season and puts the Voyagers ahead 2-1 in the series. However, they still hold the overall best record in the Pioneer League at 29-18. The Owlz have yet to lose a series this season, an incredible feat that they will try to keep alive with a win tomorrow.
