Abbott's Four-Bagger Boosts Owlz 4-2

Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM - A 2-run big fly in the 6th inning from Alex Abbott helped move the Orem Owlz to a 4-2 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers. The win continues the Owlz streak of not having lost a series all season long.

The start of the game began with a pitchers duel as both starting pitchers were named 2015 Pioneer League All-Stars. Tanner Banks, who had the start for the all-star game, received the nod on the mound for the Voyagers while Joe Gatto began for the Owlz. Each pitcher went 2 and 2/3 innings without giving up a hit. It wasn't until the 9th batter came to the plate that the perfect game was broken up for each pitcher.

Gatto got his first win of the season moving to 1-3 after going 6 full innings allowing only two earned while striking out three. The Owlz gave Banks his second loss on the season, scoring four runs off of seven hits.

Abbott's second homerun of the series was also his third in his last four appearances. Ranyelmy Alberto also had a great game after going 2-3 while scoring one of the four Orem runs. The other two RBIs came from Juan Moreno and Tanner Lubach.

The win today moves the Owlz to 30-18 on the season. The next series begins tomorrow against the Missoula Osprey here at home.

The action can be seen on KPDR-19 or listened to at audio.oremowlz.com.
