Grasshoppers on Verge of Yet Another Milestone
August 28, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
GREENSBORO, NC -- As the Grasshoppers' fifth anniversary season comes to a close, the perennial attendance power has their sights set on yet another attendance milestone.
With just three home games remaining on the 2009 schedule, the Grasshoppers aim to become the first South Atlantic club to welcome more fans in their fifth season than their first.
The list of minor league teams to accomplish the feat is exclusive, with only two Class A members and just a handful of Double and Triple A franchises having completed the task.
"Attendance records are great for our organization, but they are truly a tribute to the fans who come out and show their support," said President and General Manager Donald Moore.
The Grasshoppers, in an attempt to establish this attendance standard in the South Atlantic League, plan to open gates for the final three games of the season with the best ticketing promotions of the year.
Beginning with the Sunday, August 29th contest, the Hoppers will incorporate a slew of savings around the ballpark, starting in the box office where all tickets are just FIVE DOLLARS...$5.00!!!
But Sunday's contest, with its special 7:05 p.m. start time, features specials throughout, including a pencil holder giveaway to the first 1500 fans, and three in-game makeovers courtesy of Balance Day Spa.
As always, families can play catch on the field prior to the game, and even watch fireworks light up the sky over NewBridge Bank Park in a special Sunday post-game show.
"The upcoming promotions not only help our organization achieve our attendance goals, but also help repay our fans by offering them quality entertainment at an even more affordable price," added Moore.
Don't miss your final chance for some Hoppin' fun in the season finale, where the Hoppers take on the Kannapolis Intimidators for Money Off Monday. The Monday money saver will still consist of one dollar hot dogs and beverages, but also boasts an added upgrade, with all lawn tickets starting at one dollar as well!
The Grasshoppers finished the 2008 season with an attendance of 440,787 and have welcomed over 1,715,000 fans to NewBridge Bank Park, drawing over 400,000 fans in each of its first four years at the new downtown ballpark. The team is the proud recipient of both the South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award
and the General Manager of the Year Award for the past four years.
Tickets and group packages are now on sale for the 2009 season. For more information, please contact the Grasshoppers office at 336.268.BALL or visit www.gsohoppers.com.
