Gove's goal leads Bruins to win

The Providence Bruins and Lowell Lock Monsters played the sixth game of their 10-game season series on Wednesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, with the Bruins taking a 2-1 decision. The Bruins, who are 4-0-0-2 against Lowell this season, have now taken at least one point in 26 consecutive games against the Lock Monsters. The Bruins remain tied with the Worcester IceCats for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with their 28-20-3-6 record (65 points), one point behind Lowell.

Bruin center David Gove scored the game-winning goal at 12:34 of the third period, 47 seconds after the Lock Monsters had tied the game. The goal was Gove's 10th of the season, and third game-winner. Left wing Martin Samuelsson had given the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the second period on his sixth goal of the year. Defenseman Darrel Scoville had two assists in the game.

Goaltender Chris Madden, who earned his first AHL shutout in his Bruin debut on Sunday, stopped 31 shots to record his second win in as many starts. The 25-year-old native of Liverpool, New York has stopped 49 of the 50 shots he has faced in his two games, for a 0.50 GAA and .980 save percentage.

The Bruins continue this week's four-game homestand on Friday, February 25 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Portland Pirates. The teams meet again on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m., before the Manchester Monarchs come to town on Sunday, February 27 at 4:05 p.m.

Please note that fans holding tickets for the Bruins-Portland game on January 23 should use them on Saturday, February 26.
