THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN - The Amarillo Gorillas return home this weekend after 13 days away from their home rink. The Gorillas then get a second helping of home cooking Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Wichita Thunder. The busy weekend of Gorillas hockey starts Friday evening at the Kansas Coliseum against the Thunder.

GORILLAS SIT 3RD IN SOUTHWEST AFTER WEEKEND SETBACK - The parity in the Central Hockey League and in particular, the Southwest Division, is rearing its ugly head already. After a pair of hard-fought one-goal victories at home two weekends ago, the Gorillas found themselves positioned nicely atop the Southwest Division with a 4-1-1 record and 9 points in the standings. Now, just 10 days later, the Gorillas are 3rd in the division following a pair of disappointing efforts against divisional rivals this past weekend. The Gorillas fell 6-1 Friday evening in Lubbock to the Cotton Kings and followed that up with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Jackalopes in Odessa on Saturday. The Gorillas now sit just one game above .500 with a 4-3-1 record and are now 3rd in the division behind Lubbock and the Arizona Sundogs, who lead the Southwest with 12 standings points.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS - They're not quite Athos, Porthos and Aramis but the newly formed line combination of Hansen, Draney and Vandermeer have adopted the same "all for one, one for all" philosophy found in the Alexandre Dumas novel. The trio has been together for just 4 total games now but they've made their mark in each and every one of them. In their four games together, the Hansen/Draney/Vandermeer line has combined for 5 goals, 8 assists and 13 total points. They have scored at least one goal and tallied at least 2 points in each of those four games.

AS THE STATISTICS TURN - It's still very early in the season but with a pair of poor performances last weekend, the Gorillas saw a couple of key statistics take a turn for the worse. The Apes entered last weekend with the 2nd best penalty kill in the Central Hockey League at just under 88%. However, after a weekend PK that allowed 6 power play goals against and went just 14 for 20, the Gorillas penalty kill now stands at just 83.7% and is now only 7th in the CHL. Additionally, the Gorillas entered play last weekend as the best defensive team in the league, allowing a league-low 2.50 goals against per game. But after giving up 11 goals in just 2 contests, the Gorillas are now averaging 3.25 goals against per contest, which ranks just 9th in the CHL.

Individual game tickets can be purchased at the Gorillas Hockey Office, located at 1934 Civic Circle off of I-40 and Georgia, the Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets. These include Randy's Music Mart, the West Texas Event Center in Canyon and United Supermarkets. Tickets can also be charged by phone at (806) 378-3096 or (806) 242-PUCK (7825). Also be sure to call the Gorillas front office today to learn about all the great incentives you can gather by bringing a group out to a Gorillas game!
