Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN --- The Memphis RiverKings are the new number one team in the weekly Central Hockey League Coaches Poll as they prepare to put their five game winning streak on the line against the defending President's Cup Champions. The RiverKings host the Laredo Bucks Friday and Saturday at the DeSoto Civic Center at 7:05.

The RiverKings moved up from number two to be the third different number one team in the poll's short three week history. The RiverKings have the CHL's best record at 7-1-2, the most points with 16, the longest current winning streak (5 games) and sit atop the Northeast Division with a four point lead on the Youngstown Steelhounds.

Colorado, with their 7-2-0 record, was ranked second. The Bucks will come into the DCC as the number three team and with a three game winning streak. The Bucks have won the President's Cup two of the last three seasons.

Friday night is Hunt the Bucks night as the first 1,500 fans through the doors will receive a Sportsman's Warehouse hunting vest. Fans will also be entertained during the first intermission as the girls from Memphis Roller Derby will be playing broomball. Memphis Roller Derby will have its inaugural bout on Saturday at Fun Quest Entertainment in Collierville at 7:30.

"Hockey and Roller derby are very similar with the speed and the physical contact," Roller Derby combatant Sidless Nancy said. As far as the broomball match between the PrissKilla Prezleys and the Legion of Zoom Friday night on the ice at the DCC she said, "It should be a competitive match."

Friday's RiverKings game will also be followed by the popular post game skate.

On Saturday night, the first 1,500 fans will take home a DAC RiverKings duffle bag. Saturday's first intermission break will feature the Q107.5 Deal or No Deal where a fan will be chosen at random for a chance to win up to $5,000. The contest will be a take off of the hit NBC show hosted by Howie Mandel.

Both games start at 7:05 on Friday and Saturday. Single game tickets can be purchased at the DCC box office, at all TicketMaster locations, at ticketmaster.com or over the phone by calling TicketMaster at 901-525-1515.
