Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

BLAZERS DROP TO #5 IN CHL COACHES POLL - After losing its only game of the week, the Oklahoma City Blazers dropped to #5 in the CHL Coaches Poll released Wednesday. Friday night, the #5 ranked Blazers will play the #4 ranked Lubbock Cotton Kings at the Ford Center at 7:35 p.m.

BLAZERS DRAW SEASON HIGH CROWD - The Blazers drew a CHL season high 11,847 for their game against the Wichita Thunder last Friday. That propelled the Blazers to the top spot among the 17 CHL teams and to sixth among the 87 North American minor professional teams. The Blazers have led the CHL in attendance in each of the 14 seasons of the revived CHL.

POWER PLAY STRUGGLING - After early season success with the man advantage, the Blazers power-play efficiency has gone into hibernation. After recording two power-play goals in each of their first four games, the Blazers have gone quiet, recording one power-play tally in its last 23 attempts. That includes no goals in their last 16 attempts.

BLAZERS & THUNDER MAY REQUIRE EXTRA TIME - The Oklahoma City/Wichita rivalry is arguably the most intense in the CHL at this time. In five of the last eight games between these two clubs, including both games this season, overtime or a shootout was required to decide a winner. Two of the three games that did not require extra time were decided by one goal. The other game, was a two-goal game. However, an empty-net goal was required to make that a two-goal game.
