Memphis Takes Over Top Position in CHL Coaches Poll

Published on November 15, 2006 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Central Hockey League Top 10 Coaches Poll has a new #1 for the third straight week, with the Memphis RiverKings assuming top position after convincing wins last week over Wichita and Corpus Christi. The RiverKings placed seventh in the inaugural poll and moved up to second last week before reaching the top position. The RiverKings received 9 of 17 first place votes, and were ranked no worst than second by any of the 16 opposing CHL coaches.

Other clubs continuing to climb this week were the Colorado Eagles, who picked up 8 first place votes and moved from 3rd to 2nd, the defending champion Laredo Bucks (10th to 3rd), and the Lubbock Cotton Kings, rising from 7th to 4th. The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs moved into the Top 10 for the first time this season with a #9 ranking, while the Corpus Christi Rayz fall back out of the Top 10 after their debut at #9 last week.

Each week throughout the season the CHL will release the results of the Coaches Poll. Each first place selection earns 10 points, second place earns 9 points, etc. Coaches cannot vote for their own team, creating a potential perfect score of 160 points should one club receive all 16 possible first place votes.
