LAREDO, Texas - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks got a pair of goals from forward Leo Thomas as they beat the New Mexico Scorpions 4-1 at the LEC on Wednesday night. The Bucks posted their fifth straight win as they improved their Southeast Division best record to 7-3- 0 with 14 points. Laredo is on the road in Memphis on Friday and Saturday night. The Bucks return home to begin a three game home stand on Wednesday, November 22nd, against Lubbock. The first 2,500 fans get a Coach 'Rosco' bobble head courtesy of AT&T and Cingular. The Bucks are offering a family four pack of season tickets for the 2006-07 CHL regular season, which works out to just over $7 a seat per game and is a 48 % savings off walkup prices. The Bucks capitalized on an early New Mexico turnover for the only goal of the first period as Thomas stripped the puck and streaked in to score on a breakaway at 4:01. It was his fourth straight game with a goal, and his fifth of the season.

Neither team scored in the second period.

The Bucks exploded early in the third period. On a power play chance defenseman Adam Rivet converted a perfect backdoor feed from rookie forward Bobby Chaumont 52 seconds into the frame. It was the third goal of the season for Rivet. At 2:34 Thomas scored his second of the night on a great drop pass in front by forward Jay Latulippe to make it 3-0. Chaumont put the game away with a one-timer on a power play at 10:53 for his fourth of the season. New Mexico defenseman Vladimir Hartinger got the Scorpions on the board with a five-on-three power play goal at 14:53. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, New Mexico 1.

Nathan Marsters stopped 23 of 24 shots to get the win and improve to 3-2- 0. Walter Bartholomaeus allowed four goals on 26 shots and fell to 1-4-0. The Bucks were 2-8 on the power play while New Mexico was 1-8. Laredo out shot the Scorpions 26-22.
