
Gonzalez Wins Sixth as Fisher Cats Beat Sea Dogs 8-3

(Portland, ME)-Travis d'Arnaud went 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and three runs scored and Rey Gonzalez earned his sixth win as the Fisher Cats rolled past Portland 8-3 on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.
Gonzalez (6-1), who entered the game with the lowest earned run average in the Eastern League, blanked the Sea Dogs for seven innings before allowing three consecutive hits and three runs in the eighth. Ron Uviedo and Evan Crawford finished off the evening working an inning each with two strikeouts.
The Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Darin Mastroianni led off the game with a single and Adeiny Hechavarria doubled. Mastroianni scored on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Gose.
New Hampshire (28-16) extended the lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning. Travis d'Arnaud hit a solo home run off Sea Dogs starter Michael Lee. d'Arnaud has hits in five straight games, going 12-for-18 over that period.
The Fisher Cats put together back-to-back hits after two men were out in the top of the fifth inning for another run. Gose singled and scored on a double by Mike McDade to make it 3-0.
New Hampshire broke the game open with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. d'Arnaud doubled and scored on a double by Craig Stansberry to make it 4-0. Callix Crabbe followed with a home run off reliever Caleb Clay for a 6-0 lead.
In the top of the seventh, after Moises Sierra singled, d'Arnaud doubled again and Ricardo Nanita singled to make it 7-0. Stansberry's sacrifice fly scored d'Arnaud to make it 8-0.
Portland (13-28) scored three in the eighth on a single by Jeremy Hazelbaker, a single by Alex Hassan, a triple by Chih-Hsien Chiang and a sacrifice fly by Will Middlebrooks.
Michael Lee (1-4) took the loss for the Sea Dogs, allowing five earned runs in 5.1 innings. The 16 hits for the Fisher Cats was the most in a game this season.
The Fisher Cats continue the four-game series in Portland on Wednesday night at 6:00pm. RHP Henderson Alvarez (1-0, 1.50) will start for New Hampshire against RHP Alex Wilson (4-3, 3.27) for the Sea Dogs. Radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins at 5:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
